Very long baseline interferometry is a 50-years old technique that still keeps amazing us today. Mysterious radio flashes of a few milliseconds in duration have been successfully localized by the European VLBI Network (EVN) with a precision exceeding orders of magnitudes what is possible with single dish telescopes. I will introduce the FRB phenomenon and the current state of the field, with an emphasis on the highest angular resolution work, and its relevance for identifying potential progenitors. Future directions in the VLBI field will be summarized briefly afterwards.
